Peter Methven built the current Mille Lacs Lake Funeral Home building with local contractor Vern Harms in 1987. Through a sequence of events over the last 20 years, the funeral home has changed hands two different times. When it became available in 2005, Peter, Nate and Ryan formed a partnership and purchased it. The building was in need of repair and it has since had a new roof, tarred parking lot and stone pillars added on the outside. In March of 2009, new air conditioning was added as well as an updated heating system.
